In Shakespeare’s Sonnet 130, unconditional love is shown in his quotes about unconditional love. For example , in line 2 ‘coral is far more than her lips red’. In this sonnet, Shakespeare is making fun of other poets who have used cliché to describe love by showing that love is not perfect but is flawed with imperfections. This is shown also in Shakespeare’s Sonnet 116 on line 2 ‘Admit impediments, Love is not love.’

The main idea of Sonnet 130 is unconditional love. ‘I think my love is as rare as any she believed with false compare’. This quote shows that he loves his ‘mistress’ but doesn’t need to show it by using crazy comparisons. Shakespeare does this because he believes a lot of poets are very clichéd when it comes to using comparisons about women. As a result, the reader feels Shakespeare is somewhat mean to his mistress, when he is really only trying to say he loves her but doesn’t need to show it by saying it. “My mistresses eyes are like the sun”. However, Shakespeare negates this simile in the sonnet. Overall the main idea in Sonnet 30 is unconditional love because the writer is saying his love doesn’t have to be compare in a clichéd manner.
